Overview: Dental caries is a worldwide epidemic, affecting over 90% of adults. Even with new techniques and information, caries formation is at an all time high and we as dental professionals have a responsibility to help prevent, educate and treat these caries. This course is designed to deepen your understanding of the intricate processes behind enhancing and fortifying remineralization in teeth, delving into the cutting-edge science of tooth remineralization.

With a focus on practical application, case studies, and the latest advancements in dental science, this course aims to empower you to make informed decisions that contribute to the longevity, resilience, and remineralization of your patients\' smiles. 

OBJECTIVES 

1. Discuss the benefits and limitations of current noninvasive caries treatment options 
2. Review the evidence for guided hard tissue regeneration using Monomer-Peptide 104-Curodont.
3. Review the evidence for the use of resin infiltration and the use of microabrasion in the treatment of white spot lesions. 
4. Review the evidence for the use of fluoride agents in the treatment of white spot lesions
5. Understand non fluoride options for remineralization in your patients 
6. Discuss salivary testing to fully understand your patients needs for remineralization

Shelley Brown, MEd, RDH  has been in the dental industry since 2001. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Utah College of Dental Hygiene, owns and runs a mobile dental practice called Homebound Smiles, serving a population that rarely has access to a dental professional. She loves riding her 4 young boys around on her cargo bike.

Jessica Atkinson, MEd, BSDH, RDH has been in the dental field for 23 years with experience as front office staff, dental assistant, Dental Hygienist and Dental Hygiene Education. Education is Jessica’s joy, from educating patients, students and anyone else who comes across Hygiene Edge’s YouTube channel. She speaks both nationally and internationally to continue educating, growing, and being inspired with her fellow dental professionals.

Melia Lewis, MEd, BSDH, RDH is a proud clinical dental hygienist in Utah. She loves learning, educating, and advocating for dental hygienists to grow in their profession and serve our local communities. She speaks nationally and loves to write about teeth and create helpful dental videos. When she’s not talking about dentistry or how amazing RDHs are, she’s planning her next trip either out of the country or to a National Park or being a mom to her two-daughter girl gang and goldendoodle pup.
