Managing pain is a crucial aspect of providing excellent dental care and it’s essential to have a wide range of strategies to ensure patient comfort. This course is designed to equip dental hygienists with the knowledge and tools needed to manage various types of pain—ranging from mild tooth sensitivity to the effective use of local anesthesia.

You’ll learn about the causes of dental pain, explore non-invasive treatments for sensitivity, and gain practical insights into when and how to use local anesthetic agents. This course will provide up-to-date information on pain management options to help you improve patient outcomes and reduce anxiety in your practice.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the different types of pain dental patients may experience, including sensitivity and acute discomfort.

Learn about desensitizing agents and non-invasive pain management tools for managing sensitivity.

Understand the pharmacology of local anesthetics, injection techniques, and how to ensure patient safety and comfort during administration.

Identify potential contraindications to anesthetics and how to manage adverse reactions effectively.
