Orofacial pain comes in many shapes and sizes. This lecture will introduce you to a variety of orofacial pain conditions through a case-based format.
• Become familiar with the signs and symptoms of orofacial pain conditions and non-odontogenic toothaches
• Learn methods to help differentiate among various orofacial pain conditions (like trigeminal neuralgia)
• Gain an understanding of how to take a detailed history and physical exam to diagnose these conditions
• Become familiar with management and treatment options for patients who present with orofacial pain conditions
• Learn about the benefits of treating facial pain from a multidisciplinary perspective

Asher Mansdorf DDS MS is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) and co-director of the TMD and Orofacial Pain course. Additionally, he has been instrumental in establishing the digital dentistry curriculum at Touro. He is dual board certified in anesthesiology and orofacial pain. He received his DDS from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He then completed a general practice residency at Jamaica Hospital followed by an anesthesiology residency at Montefiore Medical Center. Due to his strong interest in pain, Dr. Mansdorf received a master’s of science degree in pain management from the University of Southern California.
Prior to joining Touro, Dr. Mansdorf maintained a practice for 40 years. He is active in serving his community and has received a number of awards for his public service. He has served as Trustee then Vice President of the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach, as well as Trustee then President and Vice-President on the Lawrence School Board. Dr. Mansdorf has participated in several continuing education courses on a number of topics including, but not limited to, implants, digital dentistry and pain management.

Lauren E. Levi DMD MS is a board-certified orofacial pain specialist and fellowship-trained dental oncologist who has dedicated her career to treating and managing head, neck and facial pain as well as sleep-related breathing disorders and oral medicine-related conditions. She received her DMD from the University of Florida. She then completed a residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in dental oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After fellowship, Dr. Levi received a master’s degree in oral medicine and orofacial pain from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. Additionally, she completed advanced training in headache management at Jefferson Health. Prior to joining Touro, Dr. Levi served as a clinical assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University in the division of orofacial pain where she remains an adjunct clinical assistant professor. She also taught at New York University College of Dentistry and started a dental oncology service at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Levi has published articles in multiple journals in the fields of pain and oral medicine. Dr. Levi’s research interests include the relationship among obstructive sleep apnea, TMD and migraine, the use of neuromodulation in the treatment of orofacial pain, the head and neck manifestations of cancer therapy, novel treatments of chronic head and neck pain, and the applicability of photobiomodulation in the treatment of radiation fibrosis syndrome and trigeminal neuropathic pain.
