Title: The Holistic Approach to Manage Today’s Periodontal Patient

Description: With periodontal diseases being considered as inflammatory over infection, discovery and treatment enters a new era. We now have systems to determine a patient’s risk at chairside and coordinate with the AAP Classification of Periodontal and Implant disease. Be exposed to salivary diagnostics to measure inflammatory messengers. Balance patient’s oral hygiene from anti -microbial to anti-inflammatory with probiotics and nutraceuticals.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the today’s definition of holistic care
  • Learn an approach for managing inflammation as a systemic and local immune response with antioxidants
  • Recognize management of periodontitis as a major chronic inflammatory systemic disease and examine AI and new salivary diagnostics
  • Incorporate the new paradigm of periodontal medicine into the practice
  • Consider genetics, oral probiotics and nutraceuticals as variables in controlling disease
