Overview
“New Advances in Periodontics”
Presented by Sameer Kapoor, DDS, MSD
This course is designed for the dental
professional to gain a better understanding of how laser therapy can reduce
bacteria and biofilm to aid in controlling the inflammatory process and achieve
vastly improved periodontal outcomes. Participants will learn exciting NEW
trends in laser therapeutics as well as when individuals are indicated for
laser therapy vs the traditional antibiotics, and SRP. The differences in
laser wavelength and how the wavelength settings can produce different therapy
outcomes will be discussed. The AAP periodontal classifications will also be
discussed to review the evolution of the new classification system, focusing on
the application of the new staging and grading concepts used to classify each
periodontal patient. The new system assists in determining the predictability
for the periodontally involved patient to respond to therapy. .
Course Objectives:
- Gain an
understanding of NEW trends with lasers, and explore current research into
laser periodontal therapy
- Understand
how laser wavelength and settings used can play an important role in
periodontal therapy outcomes
- The AAP
Periodontal Classifications will be reviewed, along with case studies.
- Develop
treatment plans and at home therapy regimens using the staging and grading
system.
