Course Description:

HIPAA Update for the Dental Professional

2023 Indiana Dental Association with Jay Dziwlik, MBA, CAE 

Dentists and dental office staff are invited to join the Indiana Dental Association in a fast paced, interactive entertaining program that fulfills your annual training requirement for federal HIPAA rules.  The program will provide an overview of HIPAA and its various parts; walkthrough the dental office to highlight HIPAA reminders and applications to a dental office.  HIPAA enforcement will be reviewed and answers to the most frequently questions.   You will laugh and learn something as you fulfill your annual federal CE requirement (1 hour CE).    

At the end of the course you will have completed the following learning objectives:

Review the major sections of HIPAA including Coding, Privacy, Security, and forms related to HIPAA.

Understand the patient interaction concerns and applications for HIPAA

Reviewed the enforcement of HIPAA including Breach of Notification, Common violations, fines and punishments.

Discuss steps in a HIPAA Audit.

Jay T. Dziwlik (pronounced Jeev-lick), MBA, CAE 


Jay has been with the Indiana Dental Association since 2000, currently serving as Assistant Executive Director with over 27 years of experience as a not for profit association professional.


Jay coordinates membership, is liaison to the IU School of Dentistry, and IDA leadership training programming.  He speaks all across Indiana to dentists, staff, Association Executives, and nationally at the American Dental Association. 


Jay is a nationally recognized Certified Association Executive (CAE); holds a graduate MBA and has been recognized as the Indiana Association Professional of the Year by the Indiana Society of Association Executives in 2005 and 2019. Indiana Dental Association recognized Jay with the Special Service Award for his work in leadership development and Mission of Mercy charitable dentistry project. 


Jay is most proud of his darling wife, Martha and being married happily for 32 years.  He delights in his adulting family, Samuel (24)married to Sarah, Mary (23), and Thomas (22).  He likes reading multiple books at the same time.  He works out on C2 indoor rower and is attempting to row virtually around the world.  He just passed 16 million meters, over a 1/3rd of the way.  He leads and teaches at Traders Point Christian Church and volunteers with Scouting Troop 202 in Carmel, IN.
