Caring for the Latin Community Con Sazon (flavor)!

What is genetic, and what is preventable? How do we provide culturally competent care and respect our patients' beliefs? If you have wished you could do more for your patient but found that culture has been a barrier, this course is for you. This course provides an overview of the Latin and Hispanic communities and how to offer them culturally competent care. This course explores how culture impacts nutrition and diet in the Hispanic and Latino/a/x communities. We will also provide educational resources to assist you in better communicating with your patients in their language and a respectful manner. This course will equip providers to offer nutritional counseling for Hispanic and Latin patients. In this course, you will learn the "why" behind some behaviors in the Hispanic and Latin communities. You will become familiar with the nuances of dealing with Hispanics, environmental factors that contribute to their decision-making, and learn how to leverage our similarities. This course aims to equip dental professionals to understand better the cultural factors affecting our patients' behaviors to increase equity in the minority community.
