Many viruses affecting the US population have intra- and extra-oral manifestations, especially true of the herpes “family”. This session will be an evidence-based presentation of the human herpes virus (HHV) infections that produce symptoms in and around the oral cavity.  Treatment options and therapies for alleviating discomfort from oral lesions will be discussed. The session will include case presentations for formulating a differential diagnoses of lesions in the cases. 

This course can satisfy 2 hours of the 5 hour pathology course requirment toward the Public Health Dental Hygienist certification for Illinois hygienists.
