Panoramic radiograph provides an overview of the jaws and
adjacent structures, effectively contributing to an initial diagnosis. It is critical, however, to have a good
understanding of patient’s normal anatomy in order to distinguish from an
artifact and pathology.
Objectives:
- To systematically review a panoramic radiograph.
- To identify the anatomical variations and incidental findings that can be observed.
- To detect the limitations accompanying patient positioning errors.
- To recognize when 3D imaging is needed.
