Overview: This Course is a Live Webinar and will be live-streamed, starting at 8:00am Mountain time. While acute inflammation is a vital and life-saving component of our body's immune and healing response, there is a growing consensus that persistent inflammation is a common pathway for the development of disorders ranging from heart disease to depression to cancer. In this highly informative session, we will explore the relationship between inflammation, disease, and oral health; and more importantly, discuss strategies for squelching the smoldering fire within. Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to identify the relationship between inflammation and chronic disease. 2. Participants will be able to describe the role of diet and lifestyle in persistent inflammation. 3. Participants will be able to describe the concept of resolution biology and how this pertains to oral health. 4. Participants will be able to identify integrative strategies for reducing chronic inflammation. 5. Participants will be able to identify key inflammatory mediators and their relationship to cancer.
