Course Description: An overview on the screening, evaluation and management of oral cancer emphasizing the important role of the dental professional.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
• Understand the elements of oral cancer screening
• Improve the identification of higher risk lesions
• Comprehend the multi-disciplinary workup and management of an oral cancer patient
• Understand the critical role of dental professionals prior to radiation therapy
• Improve the long-term dental follow up care of oral cancer patients
Speakers: Neeraj H. Panchal, DDS, MD, MA & Dr. Rabie Shanti
Dr. Panchal received his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He also holds a master’s degree in dental science education from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University. Dr. Panchal trained at the University of Texas Southwestern / Parkland Hospital in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
He currently is Section Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Section Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Philadelphia Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Panchal’s clinical interests include maxillofacial reconstruction, dental implantology, craniofacial trauma, and trigeminal nerve surgery.
