J. Nicole Petit, RDH, MSDH - Workplace Bullying and its Effect on Mental Health Among Dental Hygienists

With years of public health experience, Nicole has enjoyed the majority of her career providing treatment for the special care population. In addition to clinical practice, she is also an educator, speaker, and has recently added published author to her list. Nicole\'s thesis research "The Prevalence and Predictors of Workplace Bullying Towards the Dental Hygienist" has been published in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene. An alumna of the Bristol Community College dental hygiene program, and recent grad from MCPHS University/Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, she holds her Masters in Dental Hygiene with a focus on public health.

  • Paula Morrison is a 2008 graduate of Quinsigamond Community College Dental Hygiene Program and a 1995 graduate of Worcester State University with a Baccalaureate Degree of Science in Urban Studies. Since her graduation, she has been actively involved with Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association serving in several different capacities.
  • Her work history includes various public health settings within school-based dental programs. Upon finishing dental hygiene school, she worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Oral Health doing a school-based dental sealant program in the Worcester Public High Schools and Middle schools. She later took a position with “Polished Dental” traveling throughout the state working in a variety of schools and other public health settings. Currently she is employed by the Fitchburg Community Health Center in the “Caring for Kids” Dental Program working in a school program servicing 5 towns in Northern Worcester County.   Paula lives in Central, Massachusetts and enjoys long distance running, biking and cooking.Ø

Patricia knows first hand the overwhelm and frustration of a healthy work-life balance, especially in the Dental Hygiene world. For the past 10 years, she has worked full time, where she finally hit rock bottom. But she took all this and turned it around for the positive. This was the most important thing she has ever learned in her life. The secret to loving and living your best life is something you already have in you! Let’s Learn!

  • Learn tools and mindsets to help you become more resilient
  • Understand how to avoid burnout by recognizing the signs and what actions to take
  • Be able to recognize self-care strategies that may be helpful to handle work and/or personal stress.

  • Patricia Mooradian, RDH, BSDH, COSE is both a full-time practicing Lead Dental Hygienist and a mentor to new Dental Hygienists starting out in their careers. Patricia obtained a Bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene from MCPHS, Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, and she has recently been certified as an Oral Systemic Educator, where she can help bridge the gap between healthcare and oral care in our communities, by implementing CME to medical professionals. Patricia has had the honor to work in a dental practice that has always used salivary diagnostics using DNA-PCR technology. As well as working with a microscope in her OP, gave her the ability to identify the pathogenic activity involved in periodontal disease. Patricia has recently created a course for Dental Hygienists who want to find fulfillment in their careers again, as well as new ways to increase their income so that they can achieve both financial freedom and a healthy work/life balance. Patricia has always been a science and exercise nerd at heart with a passion for connecting how the mouth directly affects the body.  She believes that a healthy growth mindset is a key to success, both at home and at work. She is very passionate about empowering Dental Hygienists, to never settle and always strive to reach for their dreams.

            Dr. Lisa Kane, DMD- OSHA

She has practiced general dentistry in the Greater Boston Area for over 20 years. She is currently the owner of Dental Office Compliance of New England LLC,  which assists dental practices in complying with the myriad of regulations required by their state board, OSHA, and the CDC.  She teaches infection control and OSHA training,  creates personalized plans and protocols for dental practices, and helps them navigate the world of dental compliance.
