This is an exciting time to be a
dental health professional as dentistry and dental hygiene are both growing as

Why is it important?
A diagnostic code
is a set of alphanumeric characters that are used to describe
conditions and illnesses on healthcare claims. It is important because
payers use them to process healthcare claims.
If it is coded incorrectly, it will delay the processing of a claim and result
in a denial of the claim.
Learning Objectives:
The combination of ICD codes listed that enables you to confirm
the selected area to look under for the codes needed within the dental medical
world.
Learn the features of the ICD-10-CM codes
Learn how to highlight and use the tips that allow you to find the
codes in the order needed for a claim form, when there is more than one
diagnostic code to describe the patients’ conditions
Outcome:
Learning how to navigate the chapters that are the ICD-10-CM codes
will give you the ability to find the codes used within the dental world
faster.
How to set up a sheet that you can use for the procedures you will
be providing. The treatment may be the same to either dental or medical,
but the reasons are per the patients reasons they need the treatment.
Tips on how to use the categories within the chapters to find the
highest-level diagnostic code

to the DEA, cannabis is considered to have no accepted medical use and, thus,
it is illegal to possess. Yet, almost every state has enacted legislation aimed
at legalizing or decriminalizing cannabis for medical or recreational use.
Despite this rise in social and legal acceptance, public health concerns
regarding the use of cannabis remain, especially among dental professionals, since
the major routes of administration of cannabis involve the oral cavity. This
program will introduce dental professionals to the pharmacology of cannabis,
including its various dosage forms, routes of administration and adverse effects.

practice today uses scientifically sound evidence-based approaches.There is a noticeable shift to the caries
treatment paradigm by better preventing and managing caries as a disease. We
have covered Caries Risk Management (CRM) which treats chemically at the
patient level in my last presentation.

presentation will present a scientific overview of c minimally invasive
dentistry (MID) at the tooth level utilizing new tools such as the ADA Caries
Classification System, selective caries removal, and chemical approaches such
as silver diamine fluoride (SDF), and glass ionomer cement (GIC). Actual
clinical cases will be used to illustrate these concepts.

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is the #1 most prevalent disease amongst young
children….worldwide!All this, for a
disease that is 100% preventable.But our profession has it backwards.We like to fix the holes, while paying little attention to the disease
itself.
Here’s my best analogy.If
you drove home to find your house engulfed in flames, would you call a
carpenter to fix the roof, while the fire was still licking away at your

Caries Risk Management is
considered best practice in the prevention and treatment of dental caries
disease, although early attempts in clinical practice have been overly
complicated. Implementing this concept into daily practice affects all
management systems in the office, but more importantly, really requires new
skills to help coach the patient along their journey to health. This approach
has been called Motivational Interviewing, Patient Centered Dentistry, and/or
Wellness Coaching. But regardless of the name, the skills are the same. This
lecture will present this philosophy and review verbal coaching skills.
