Risk management is key to preventing clinician and patient injury as a clinical dental professional. Risk management involves the utilization of multiple facets of imaging sciences, radiation safety, law and ethics, ergonomics, infection control, and consistent evaluation of many daily habits. This course trains dental professionals on current techniques for clinical practice and defines and discusses the incidence of risk among dental professionals. The course focuses on evaluating daily practices and workplace characteristics that increase risks of injury in practice. It meets the requirements for Iowa in ethics/ jurisprudence, infection control/OSHA/HIPAA, and radiology training in one day at one price.

Course description:
This course intends to provide clear information and guidance for clinicians, as they navigate the unique ethical decision-making challenges of private practice. This course relatesethical decision-making to work in the dental setting.This course meets the requirements for periodic jurisprudence training as a dental professional in the State of Iowa.
Objectives:
During this course, attendees will:
1. Discuss the role of the dental professional in delivering quality health care;
2. Define ethical care competencies continuum in relation to dentistry;
4. Investigate how ethics, morals, and values relate to providing patient care (Ch. 27);
5. Consider Case Studies relating to ethical challenges.
6. Become familiar with the mission and administrative role of the Iowa Dental Board, and the responsibilities of this organization under Iowa Administrative Code 650, Chapter 1, along with basic navigation for the IDB website;
Discuss the general requirements for the display and maintenance of licensureunder (Ch. 10);
Discuss the understanding of current regulation on renewal, and the process for reinstatement under (Ch. 14);
Discuss the prescription authority and medication use in the dental office under Chapter 16, along with Sedation and Nitrous Oxide requirements (Ch. 29);
Discuss various practice variations in allied dental auxiliary under (Ch. 10 Dental Hygiene & Ch. 20 and 22 Dental Assisting);
Obtain a clear understanding of the different levels of continuing educationneeded to obtain and maintain dental registrations and licenses in the State of Iowa, along with specific content types under (Ch. 25

Radiology and Imaging
Course description:
This course will provide participants an opportunity to develop a working knowledge of ionizing radiology health and safety, current dental x-ray equipment, and up-to-date precautions in radiology. Learners will review traditional versus digital exposure and processing through the amalgamation of computer memory and intra and extra oral radiographic and photographic imaging. Students will also gain an understanding of CBCT and its practical applications. This course meets the requirements for periodic radiology training as a dental professional in the State of Iowa.
Infection Prevention, OSHA, and HIPAA Training
Course description:
In this course, students will acquire current CDC recommendations, OSHA Guidelines, and HIPPA Regulations. These statements can be used to develop a working knowledge of potential hazards in clinical dental environments and prevent occupational injury through risk management. Skills and techniques needed to properly utilize disinfection modalities, contaminatedsurface management systems, and cross-contamination prevention systems will be taught for greater understanding of infection prevention in the dental setting. This course meets the requirements for periodic infection control, CDC training, OSHA, and HIPAA updates as training for dental professionals in the State of Iowa.
