Breathe LIFE Back Into your Dental Hygiene Appointment with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)
1.00
Overview:
Have you ever thought that
there may be a better way to provide dental hygiene care to our patients? Have
you ever asked yourself why we are suffering from an oral health crisis in
America in the year 2021? This course will help to provide a comprehensive
approach to bringing LIFE back into the dental hygiene appointment using the
principles of Guided Biofilm Therapy. This course will discuss utilizing GBT
with your patients as a treatment for oral and systemic health. Sarah discusses
the disconnect between dentistry and medicine as she helps to align the goals
of the Dental Hygiene appointment, while also addressing the importance of
effectively removing biofilm as the culprit that induces an inflammatory burden
on the body. This course will have you lean in as Sarah explains why you should
integrate the eight steps of Guided Biofilm Therapy into the decontamination
appointment.
Learning
Objectives:
After completing this course, participants
will be able to:
Recognize the state of oral health in America in
reference to data from the WHO, CDC, and DMFT Indexes of countries such as
Switzerland and the United Kingdom compared to US. And why NOW is the time
to escalate optimal therapies for the disease risks our patients present
with.
Align the goals of the Dental Hygiene Appointment by
efficiently recognizing biofilm and comfortably removing its toxicity as a
culprit that induces an inflammatory burden on the body
Develop oral health/systemic health improving
strategies by utilizing disclosing agents and tools and medicaments for
personalized risk therapy and long-term maintenance
Remove barriers to change the way we provide care by
assessing risks and personalizing therapies. Remove the “procedure” and
identify the opportunities to maximize decontamination therapies vs
scratch and polish appointments and begin to use verbiage to include our
patients in the therapy goals
Elevate from what we learned in dental hygiene school
by empowering hygienists to practice at the top of their scope and stop
cleaning teeth
Integrate Guided Biofilm Therapy into the dental
hygiene visit and collaborate with your patients in total health and
wellness with sustainable lSarah Crow started in
the dental industry in 2004.She has earned numerous awards throughout
her education and career as a dental hygienist. To name a few, in 2018 Sarah was named “Component Hygienist of the Year” by her colleagues

Probiotics for Oral Health: Why it is Much More Than Eating Yogurt
3.00
Overview:
The
importance of oral health to overall systemic health was brought to the
forefront by the US surgeon general in 2002. Dentistry is positioned to be a
major contributor in the oral health and well-being of the patients it serves.
Increased
interest in the use of probiotics to nurture oral health has been fueled by the
marketing of new products, consumer interest in possible preventive and health
maintenance benefits, and research to investigate accuracy of claims and
effectiveness in oral health care.
This
course will:
Reveal the
critical role the immune system plays in protecting us from all types of
disease from the flu to cancer.
Introduce the
current science and benefits available for long term repopulation of naturally
occurring oral care probiotics
Define the
difference between an oral care probiotic and a probiotic taken orally.
Discuss application
of oral care probiotics for the use of caries prevention and oral biofilm
management.
Provide simple
communication skills for the team to educate the clients they serve.
The
attendee will become more confident in understanding how life-changing the
return to a healthy immune function is, especially as it relates to oral
dysbiosis and the importance of patient communication and collaboration.
