I consider saliva the “liquid gold” of the body. Saliva's functions include antibacterial defense, protection, facilitation of taste, digestion, ionic exchange between tooth surfaces, and buffering action, which is imperative to a person's overall health. In this program, I will focus on biomarkers we can test while working with patients chairside: pH, periodontal pathogens testing, and xerostomia evaluation.

• Define biomarkers in oral and systemic health and how they impact disease 
• Review the composition of saliva in a symbiotic mouth. 
• Discover how dental dysbiosis occurs, how to identify it, and how to treat it 
• Identify how to implement oral biomarker testing chairside

Amber Auger, MPH, RDH, is a practicing dental hygienist specializing in detecting and treating dental dysbiosis conditions. With over 17 years of experience in the dental industry, she has a passion for guiding hygienists in enhancing their clinical confidence, time and business management, and whole-body, patient-specific periodontal protocols.
