Direct composite restorations are among the most frequently performed restorative procedures, yet dentists often struggle with placement techniques, options for consistently generating ideal inter-proximal contact and postoperative sensitivity. There are several key elements that will determine the success of direct composite restorations including tooth preparation, material selection, as well as both placement technique and curing method.

This presentation will discuss how each element will play a critical role in the professional’s decision-making process when determining which materials, systems and techniques are best to utilize when placing direct composite restorations.

Breaking down each step of the procedure we will examine the important criteria to consider when evaluating materials to best align with preferred clinical techniques and how to best achieve an esthetic, functional and long-lasting restoration in an asymptomatic and satisfied patient.

 Part 1: Direct Composite Restorations

In this course we will

Look at the impact composite restorations have on a dental practice

Discuss “modern” preparation design and material selection

Focus on matrix system utilization to get the best results from your system

Review principles of dental adhesion and the techniques that produce long lasting results.

By the completion of the course, the participants will have reviewed and gained confidence on:

1. Creating conservative preparations for long term durability

2. Technique tips for efficient isolation and generating ideal anatomic interproximal contacts.

3. Understanding of adhesion, current products, and their function in daily practice
