Course Overview:

Oral cancer ranks 11th deadliest in the U.S. when undetected early, with an estimated 58,450 new diagnoses expected by the end of 2024. This course equips dental professionals to support patients from diagnosis to recovery, focusing on holistic approaches to manage treatment side effects. Participants learn personalized oral hygiene and lifestyle strategies to enhance patient well-being and effective communication for optimal support.

This course will delve into the prevalence of HPV-related Oral Pharyngeal Cancer (OPC) and its increasing upward trajectory. Explore the etiology of HPV infection and effective strategies for avoidance. Discover the significance of saliva testing for 51 HPV strains and interpreting associated risk levels. Gain recommendations for managing at-risk patients and learn valuable tips for effective patient communication during oral cancer examinations. Additionally, explore the process of launching an awareness campaign in your office to promote early detection and prevention efforts.

As rates of head and neck cancers continue to rise traditional screening protocols are becoming outdated. In this course, discover the distinct presentations of HPV-positive and HPV-negative cancers and learn the specific screening protocols needed for each. Gain confidence in identifying suspicious lesions and develop a step-by-step plan for comprehensive extra-oral, intra-oral, and oropharyngeal cancer screenings. By mastering these modern techniques, you\'ll not only enhance patient care but also distinguish your practice and potentially save lives.

As an oral healthcare provider you are a unique and powerful MEDICAL specialty.  Maxillofacial and oral cancer screenings; tactile, oral or with advanced technology can be paid for by medical insurance.  You will hear from experts how medical reimbursement works and the benefits of adding this to your practice.
