Oral Systemic Connections: The Why
1.00
Overview:
Oral Systemic Connections: The Why and The How
By Machell Hudson
Collaborative Care works interdisciplinary between medical and dental professionals to help patients reach health. Collaboration and oral-systemic health is a growing topic many have become passionate about within the past decade. It is due to witnessing countless patients going from desperation to giving up, discovering why they feel so horrible to ridding their aching bodies of pain and stress. It is the greatest gift a patient can receive and the greatest reward for the healthcare providers that worked together to discover the root cause of inflammation. The WHO defines health as 'a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.' In the United States, roughly 2.7% of the healthcare expenditure is spent on prevention, while at the same time, disease statistics continue to climb. Metabolic Health, or their lack of it, is leading the cause of disease within our country. Oral disease is closely connected to many leading causes, such as cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, and autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, and the list continues to grow. In decades, today is the most tumultuous and exciting time for change within healthcare. It is undeniable that learning to work together between dental and medical professions is the most authentic opportunity to discover the root cause of inflammation and help our patients discover what it feels like to be healthy and free of disease. Discover the science behind oral and systemic health. Throughout this course, discover how medical and dental healthcare providers work together to change disease disparities within our country by collaborating and health coaching patients to health.
Objectives:
Oral-Systemic Connections-" the why"
P4-Risk Factor Protocol- "the patients' responsibility in their health
Collaboration- feel confident creating a healthcare team to create healthy patients

Answers From A Cardiologist (Dental Medical Collaboration)
2.00
Overview:
Summary: This webinar provides an overview of how physicians and dental professionals can
work together to provide optimal healthcare for their patients and thereby prevent
cardiovascular events (heart attacks and strokes). This approach is based upon
actually looking to see if your patients have asymptomatic arterial disease and then
looking for and treating all their inflammatory issues that drive that arterial disease
in order to stabilize the arterial disease and allow it to heal, thus preventing any
possible cardiovascular event.
Learning Objectives:
How inflammation drives the arterial disease process
What role do oral inflammatory diseases play in the development of arterial disease
and cardiovascular events (Heart Attacks and Strokes)
What are some of the dental treatment methods needed to control continued periodontal disease
Dr. Eric Goulder, MD, FACC
Founder of the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio
Dr. Eric Goulder is the founder of the Heart Attack Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio (HASPC), which opened in July 2017 in Worthington, Ohio. After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1976, he worked for twenty years at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He then worked for ten years as a cardiologist, affiliated with Marietta Memorial Hospital, until he opened the HASPC of Central Ohio. In 2012, Dr. Goulder was introduced to the Bale Doneen (BD) Method, which incorporates the most current, research-based information along with painless non-invasive tests, simple blood tests and genetic information to help predict and prevent heart attacks and ischemic strokes. He has since become an accredited provider of the BD Method. At the HASPC, Dr. Goulder will check and treat patients for hidden heart attack and stroke risk by using the BaleDoneen Method and collaborating with Dr. Barb McClatchie of Complete Health Dentistry of Columbus. The BaleDoneen Method is employed by hundreds of practitioners worldwide.
