This
course is designed to educate the dental office professional on the use of the
seven basic medications recommended in by the ADA, Dr. Stanley Malamed and
others. Avoiding medical emergencies in the dental office will be
discussed along with the appropriate response to arising emergencies including
medications and devices.
Attendees will leave this course with a higher knowledge level of emergency response in handling the necessary devices and medications in the event of a medical emergency occurring in the dental office.

Donald Cohen, DMD
Dr. Donald Cohen is a licensed practicing dentist in New York State for over thirty years with over 20 years of teaching experience at Columbia University SDOS and over 20 years as an Attending Dentist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
He is
past president of the New York State Society of Dentistry For Children and is
He is Chief Clinical Officer Officer of HealthFirst and Banyan International
where in addition to creating emergency medical kits to office based practices,
institutional locations and airlines, he directs the Banyan and HealthFirst
Medical Advisory Board (MAB). The MAB advises on appropriate medications and
devices for emergency medical kits as well as substitutions during national
manufacturer drug shortages, such as Vasopressin.
Additionally, he lectures throughout the U.S. on Emergency Medicine.

Harunani, DDS, MAGD
Dr.
Harunani has been involved in organized dentistry and dental education from the
beginning of his career, receiving his FAGD in 1991, a Fellowship in the ADI in
1996, the MAGD in 1997, Life Long Service awards in 2007 and 2019. In 2012 he
received AGD’s esteemed Albert Borish award for his courage and dedication to the advancement of our
profession and in 2015 was awarded ADA’s SCDI Volunteer Award for
his significant contributions to informatics in Dentistry.
He has also achieved a Diplomat status in the American College of Forensic
Examiners and has received Fellowships in the American College of Dentistry,
the International College of Dentistry and the International Academy of
Dental-Facial Esthetics.
