Current Trends in E-Cigarettes, Hookahs and Tobacco Use
3.00
Overview:
Includes Italian Buffet Dinner
Course Objective: To help practitioners understand
how the changes in cigarette and tobacco
use are impacting the oral and systemic health of
their patients.
Course description: Does it seem as though even
less people report cigarette smoking and the use
of other tobacco products is increasing? Today,
more high school students use e-cigarettes than
smoke regular cigarettes. Many partake in multiple forms of tobacco,
including hookahs and spit tobacco. Flavored products add to the
appeal. This course will examine the changing trends in tobacco use and
how they are impacting oral and systemic health.

Course Objective: To identify and address many of the platforms
that influence teen’s venturous decisions.
Recognizing high-risk behaviors will prepare the dental
professional to initiate dialogue that may impact a teen for
a lifetime, and participants will briefly discuss new trends
driving dentistry today and will discover ways that provide
optimal care with lasting impressions.
Course Description: The current and sometimes shocking
health behaviors and trends in the teen generation can influence their oral and
systemic health. Dental professionals have a clinical opportunity to identify risky
behaviors. Encouraging Gen Z to make positive health decisions could impact their
choices when challenged. Participants will engage in a lively discussion on timely
topics relating to Gen Z. Dialogue may include oral and overall health issues associated
with nutrition, obesity, eating disorders and substance abuse. Over the last
two decades we have seen an evolution in the trends of dentistry. We have progressed
from simply treating dental disease to health promotion and esthetic
appeal. According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 99.7% of
Americans believe a smile is an important social asset. Employing a complete
assessment, which includes a smile evaluation, can promote discussions about
needed and/or wanted dentistry.
