South Carolina Dental Hygienists' Association's 27th Annual Dental Hygiene Symposium

Overview

The South Carolina Dental Hygienists' Association's 27th Annual Dental Hygiene Symposium is shaking things up! This year's Symposium will be held in Columbia, SC. We are so excited to have the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center hosting us this year. The convention center is in the heart of "The Vista". This vibrant area of Columbia features great local restaurants and shops within walking distance of our event. 

Even better than our new venue? This year's speakers! Tom Viola, R Ph. is our featured speaker on Friday, presenting not one but TWO courses for us. Tom is known nationwide as one of the most dynamic speakers in dentistry. His courses pack a wealth of information that the whole office would use the very next work day. Special Lunch and Learn speaker, Wolf Bueschgen, DMD , will be presenting a great course on Forensic Odontology. This course will offer an introductory glimpse into the world of forensic dentistry.  We hope our dental hygienist attendees encourage their dentists to sign up for our Friday pass to hear both Tom and Dr. Bueshgen present! 

On Saturday, Tracey Jacobs, RDH, BSDH.  will be presenting our morning course and our lunch and learn course. Tracey's courses are designed to give attendees valuable information and tips on communicating to patients about their oral health needs.  Angie Yorina, MS, PHDHP will finish out our 2019 Symposium on Saturday afternoon with her course on Special Needs patients. Angie's course will help hygienists become skilled in assessing, treating and communicating with special needs patients and their caregivers.  

 

With such an amazing lineup of speakers this year, SCDHA has decided to include a continental breakfast and a hot buffet lunch in the registration price. You won't have to miss a minute of our speakers or any of the 25 plus vendors that will be attending our symposium this year!  The Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center is also offering WiFI to ALL our attendees this year. 

Friday will end with our President's Reception and Auction, your Friday registration fee includes the hors d'oeuvres and entrance into the auction. Please join our President, Amy Natoli, in celebrating SCDHA and the dental hygienists of South Carolina. This year's auctions promises to be a wide variety of items from jewelry, to dental hygiene items to fun gift baskets! Be sure to bring your checkbook to bid on auction items! 

We have a whole new setup for this year's "Exhibitor's Hall" and we'll be able to have more exhibitors than ever! This list is growing daily and word is growing that the South Carolina DHA Symposium is the place to be!  3 brand new, never have exhibited before, companies have signed up to join our traditional exhibitors this year. They all want to be part of THE premier dental hygiene event in South Carolina!

*NEW THIS YEAR* Career Development Center. Need help on effectively building or revising your resume, cover letter, or portfolio? Need advice on successful interviewing? We are offering one on one counseling in our "Career Development Center". Sign up under Special Events. Slots are limited and we may open more up as demand and time allows. 

Our event is the ONLY dental hygiene event in South Carolina that is developed by dental hygienists for the empowerment, the support and the development of dental hygienists. All monies, beyond the cost of holding the Symposium, go straight back into projects that protect and progress the profession of dental hygiene.

NOTE TO ALL ATTENDEES -- This year, ALL entering the Exhibitors Hall will need to have registered and be wearing a SCDHA 2019 SYMPOSIUM badge. The Exhibitors Hall is for paid attendees and special guests of SCDHA officers ONLY. Children, spouses, family members, significant others, friends etc of attendees who have not paid for registration and do not have a badge will be denied entrance to the Exhibit Hall. The Exhibit Hall and Continental Breakfast is a benefit of PAID registration. 

STUDENTS

SCSADHA MEMBERS -- $60.00   (Includes Friday and Saturday's courses, student meeting, Friday lunch buffet, WiFI, President's reception and entry to Exhibit Hall with continental breakfast) ** PLEASE NOTE --THIS FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE SATURDAY LUNCH BUFFET** If you would like to partake in the Saturday lunch buffet, you will need to purchase the lunch separately under the "special events" in registration.
